The State Committee held a meeting with the ambassador of the Republic of Korea in our country
Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs Rovshan Rzayev met with newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Azerbaijan Kim Tonq Op.
Chairman of the State Committee congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his activities in our country.
During the meeting, the Korean diplomat was informed about the history and current state of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. It was noted that Armenia continues to pursue its aggressive policy, has not yet fulfilled 4 UN resolutions and other international organizations' decisions on unconditional removal of its armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and that more than 1 million 200 thousand of our compatriots live as refugees and IDPs.
It was stated that Azerbaijani government are taking purposeful measures not only for the liberation of our lands, but also for solving the social problems of refugees and IDPs. According to the instruction of the President Ilham Aliyev, new settlements are being built to improve the housing and living conditions of IDPs. At the same time, the head of state keeps the improvement of material wellbeing and provision of employment of our citizens from this category in the center of attention. The First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva pays special attention to the IDPs living under the most severe conditions and takes necessary measures to relocate them to new apartments.
Chairman of the State Committee remembered with satisfaction and thanked for the projects implemented by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and humanitarian organizations of this country for IDPs in Azerbaijan. It was noted that such projects are not only material but also great moral support for IDPs.
The newly appointed ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Azerbaijan Kim Tong Op expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome. He said that he will use all reasonable endavors to expand the cooperation between the two countries. It was underlined that the projects regarding IDPs will continue to be implemented.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
